We have visited this boutique hotel before and gave ourselves a treat by returning. The couple who own it have achieved and maintained a superb standard in this small, hidden gem. Let's start with the food. One of the owners does the cooking and the other serves it up. Much of it comes from local produce and the owners are rightly proud of what they achieve. The food is superb - especially the five course breakfast on the terrace. The rooms are decorated in a rustic style and are really pleasant. The large beds are wonderfully comfortable. The hotel is immaculately clean and the owners are attentive without being intrusive. The hotel is located in the village of Guadalest which is dominated by it's medieval castle. Sitting on the terrace you can look up from your meal to the imposing walls set on a huge impossible rock. Or you can turn and look down the terraced valley to the Mediterranean in the distance. I like this place so much that I included it in one of the scenes from my latest book "Twelve Lives". If you are visiting Benidorm and are sick of the beach and the crowds then book a night here. You will not be disappointed.
